Electric Eel
The last few summers, I’ve given readings by the water. Some readings have been thanks to the Persistence of Cormorants series, and another came through an invitation from Gallery RAG (Radical Acts of Generosity) in Rocky Neck, Mass. I mention it because I’ve just finished a manuscript, “Electric Eel” and I’m starting to be able to see backwards through it (as though it were an etched but glassy slab) towards its many origin points; the El Anatsui nets of bottlecaps, my obsessive watercolors of lamps and mermaids, my blended family.
What do we do when we can’t find a single root, a single origin story?
Chris reminded me the other day that you can’t locate the source of the Hudson river. You follow it back and. . .
I’m really excited about this book.
